(Un)Finally! PDF Print E-mail

Just a brief news. Due to not-so-great Cisco business in my country I was made redundant along with some other colleagues. Geopolitics, you know.
But no hard feelings. Got some extra cash on a way to the exit and got back to my previous 'configuring' job. Currently have a rather interesting project with solar panels, batteries etc to build a couple of hundreds fully autonomous telco sites. And a lot of Splunk!, quite exciting.

Finally! :) PDF Print E-mail

That's how most of my friends and co-workers reacted to the news that I have joined Cisco Systems as a Technical Solutions Architect. Working in Cisco seemed so logical - I suit Cisco, Cisco suits me - so why not then? And for the past several years I've been approached by Cisco's recruiting and I've approached them, but actually we've never clicked for different reasons. So it happened. Finally! :)

P.S. Still two months of probation period left. Keep fingers crossed. :)
P.P.S. I have a bunch of configs to add to the repository, so stay tuned.

Cisco MARS End-of-Sale PDF Print E-mail

As you might know Cisco has announced End-of-Sale for MARS product. Cisco Security Agent, Web Application Firewall, now MARS... What else? I understand it's still a crisis time for Cisco and some fat should be eliminated, but that seems more raw flesh than fat.

The irony is that recently I've integrated Kaspersky Antivirus with Cisco MARS and was hoping to get some commercial value from that. It took me some time to figure out how to develop a custom parser for Kaspersky AdmintKit, but actually I was pleased by the result.

New job, same pleasure, more cisco PDF Print E-mail

I'm still in a cisco world, what a wonder. My way was out of cisco's orbit for a while (IT security stuff, you know) but now I'm back on track and doing well. I changed my job a couple of month ago and you know what? It is such a pleasure to do a work that you know, you love and you are best in.

I've bumped into the IP telephony. It's almost a completely new area for me with all its shiny, ringing glory and gloomy reputation.

Rumors about CSA EoS/EoL PDF Print E-mail

During last month I've heard some rumors that Cisco Security Agent is going to be dropped and end-of-sale is going to be announced in a near future. Personally I was expecting things like that because the CSA's development pace is rather slow. And I'm saying that in a polite way :). They even don't get CSA compatible with 64-bit platforms during last several years. Some sources says there will be a new great product that will replace CSA in an year or two. Anyway I've tried to find out the truth and I have some non-official statements to declare :)
